2013 so far…

News No Comments

Well the year kicked off to a pretty crazy run of tours and loads of Live Recording… Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings for NYE and Sydney festival shows, as well as a full run of club and festival dates, then literally without a day in between it was on to the Australian Open in melbourne (our fourth year!), SMAC awards for fBI (our third year), new tours for Lianne La Havas and Stars, festival shows for Tim Finn, then The Tallest Man on Earth theatre tour. Without catching breath and departing directly from Hobart, Gareth headed to SXSW with Jack Carty, as well as being production manager for the Sounds Australia Aussie BBQ shows. After a quick few shows and meeting in LA it was straight back to sydney and out on the road again for Blues Fest (our eighth year!) this time with Supertramp legend Roger Hodgson.

With what little breather there was after that tour – we started work on GPHQ2. Another studio! Crazy right? Crazy. As well as being home to an AVID system, this studio also boasts PTHD2 as a mix/ edit room, and the main studio was also updated to HD2 and a bunch more plug ins.

Barely finishing the build, we then put together a large touring system for a lengthy They Might Be Giants tour – with both regional and city sold out shows, as well as Groovin the Moo. The band chose to tour consoles, stage patch, split, power and a significant in-ear and radio mic set up for us, and Gareth went out on the road as PM to oversee it all. With 10 out of 17 shows SOLD OUT (and the rest not far from it!) i think we will call that a success.

Home to finish the studio build, and work on building the Live Recording systems (new converter racks and RAID hard drive arrays) its business as usual. As was mentioned the other day – “The road to success is always under construction”
